Pregnancy Photography 101
You will notice that more and more people are opting to have their pregnancy photos professionally taken. They wish to preserve the memories of their pregnancy in the most fashionable manner possible. There are however some complications associated with a pregnancy photo shoot. The photographer has to cater to so many issues at once, like the mood of the client, makeup, poses executed, lighting and clothing. It is also tricky in the sense that a pregnant woman has minimal poses they can strike while remaining safe and comfortable. Fulfilling the need for variety thus becomes a tricky prospect.
Those who wish to undertake this adventure need to have certain considerations in place. These are things that shall aid in making the process smooth for all parties.
There is a need to know how long the pregnancy in question is. The best photo shoots usually need the lady to be starting her third trimester. The pregnancy is said to look its best then, and the body has not started revealing the pressure it is under.
There should also be a professional makeup artist on site to make sure it is done correctly. With a makeup artist on site, getting it as perfectly as the photographer wants is an easier task. The photos are directly affected by the kind of makeup the woman has on.
There also needs to be some attention paid to the angles of the camera
for the photos. You shall find some scenes look best when the photos are taken at a higher level, for instance.
If the photo shoot is to happen at a client’s house, there had to be attention paid at any clutter. The living room and bedroom serve that purpose perfectly. You need to also work with as much natural light as is possible.
There is also a need to pay attention to the props that fit into the picture. When items like booties, vintage plaques, other sibling baby photos, and the like are included, you shall end up with a more fun atmosphere. The photos will also be great.
You need to also have these photos in color. There may be requests to have the photos in black and white or monochrome. You can do so from the colored ones. This allows for there to be colored ones if ever needed. You cannot do this if all of them were monochrome.
If you are not careful you can end up with plain looking pregnancy photos. This is why a lot of creativity on the photographer’s part is necessary. They shall make sure your shoot is fun and different. You need to see diverse uses of light, height, colors, makeup styles and poses. You will know you are with the right photographer when you feel comfortable enough around them to follow their lead.
